My work explores the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art by combining photography with digital and other traditional and experimental art practices. Photography often begins as the foundation of my work because it allows me to freeze a moment in the real world, but I am interested in what happens when that image moves back beyond the flat surface. Using these mediums, I transform photographs and visual ideas into physical experiences. I want the viewer to question where photography ends and where another form of art begins.

I explore themes from the African American experience connected to identity, history, resilience, and the trials African Americans have faced and continue to experience. Rather than limiting these ideas to a single medium, I use photography, digital, and other traditional art techniques together to create different ways of seeing and understanding these experiences. My work allows me to document reality while also reshaping what I capture and produce my own perspective as an artist.

At the center of my work is the idea of taking reality and translating it into a fantasy. I am interested in transforming familiar people, environments, emotions, and experiences into something that evokes thought and emotion. By moving between two-dimensional images and three-dimensional forms, I can capture reality as what I've seen, and create spaces where memory, culture, observation, and imagination overlap. Ultimately, I want my work to encourage new thoughts and conversations, and to inspire whoever finds themselves in front of it.
